Choice Time is one of the many activity options for students who attend Corlears Plus, our after-school program. Plus, and all of its exciting offerings, serve as an extension of the Corlears community, providing a fresh slate of engaging, age-appropriate activities each semester for ages 4 through 10 (with some options for 3-year-olds).
Choice Time is a fan favorite, giving kids ages 4 through 6 the option of playing in the yard, enjoying games, or making art. Students in the 7- to 10-year-old age groups have their pick of hands-on STEAM activities, sports-related games, and homework help. Just as important as what you do at Choice Time is who you do it with, as children have the opportunity for more structured free time with friends.
“I like drawing in Choice Time because you can make whatever you want, and it’s fun to have free time,” says one 2nd-grade student who attends Choice Time. A fellow 2nd-grade friend echoes the free-time fandom: “You get to try something new!”
But it’s not just the kids who enjoy Choice Time, which is available every day starting at dismissal time, and running until 6:00pm.
“Our son is a Corlears Plus mega-fan. He especially loves attending Choice Time as it affords him the time he craves to spend with his friends from school,” explains Elizabeth, mom of a 3rd-grade student at Corlears. “For him it's the dream playdate, in that so many of his playmates from other classes and grades can participate.”
In addition to the daily offerings at Choice Time, students in Corlears Plus have the opportunity to expand their horizons and follow their hearts’ desires by signing up for expert-led classes in chess, swimming, soccer, piano, guitar, theatre, ceramics, and more.
What’s more, every Corlears Plus class is taught by our expert early childhood teachers, or experienced educators from outside of our community.
“As parents we love Choice Time, because we can trust that our son is being supervised by skilled staff members who genuinely care about him and his mates,” Elizabeth adds.
